The Watanabe (渡辺) Family is one of the Hundred Families, however, it is a side family.

Background[]

The Watanabe Family are rumored to have a vast history, specifically that they are supposedly descended from General Watanabe Tsuna from the peaceful era, for the Watanabe are on the "fringes" of the Hundred Families. ^[1]

Watanabe Mari noted that her house lies on the tail end of the Watanabe Family. If her family knew of her ability to use the "Secret Sword of Genji", then some trouble could arise. ^[2]

Mari is unsure if a mutation had occurred or even if her genes had skipped a generation, but within her family her skills are rated very highly though she is thankful that she doesn't have to deal with politics as other families do. ^[1]
