Ushiyama Kinji (牛山) is an FLT engineer, known by the Third Division as "Mister Ushiyama" or "Director Ushiyama", and is "Taurus", the other half of Taurus Silver. [1]
Appearance and Personality
He is a humble man who doesn't consider himself to be a genius like Tatsuya, and believes that his name was placed beside Tatsuya's due to legal issues regarding the patent. However, Tatsuya disagrees with him, and claims that it would have been impossible to actualize the "Loop Cast" without his help. [1]
Due to his humble nature, he doesn't accept the directorship of Third Division, leaving the group without group leaders. He swore loyalty to Tatsuya and refers to him respectfully as "Young Master". [1]
Background
Ushiyama specializes in engineering CAD hardware, an area in which he surpasses Tatsuya. [1]
The main office views him and the Third Division derisively, calling their headquarters "the place where Captain Taurus and his companions" work. [2]
Trivia
- Ushiyama was based on Nandi. The bull who served as Shiva's mount, assistant, and close companion. Nandi was also sometimes referred to as a guru and a scholar, and he led a group of wise men who all revered Shiva and called him "Master" the same way Ushiyama and the Third Division respect and look up to Tatsuya and affectionately call him "Master" or "Young Master". The characters in his name (牛山), also roughly translate into "Bull of the Mountain".
